Data Validity
An independent check of our data validity/accuracy is provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This federal agency arranges for independent audits of some of the data that some adult hospitals report. (CMS explains the technical details under Hospitals Data Validation at: www.qualitynet.org.) For these audits, nurses not associated with Methodist Medical Center of Illinois review several hundred individual data elements to see how often their answers are the same as ours.

What does this mean to me? Our data is audited by people outside of our organization to ensure its accuracy. This shows that our data meets or exceeds 90%.
